Fundraising Ideas
The Goretti Group believes that everyone who would like to hear the message of chastity should have the opportunity to do so. Don’t let money be the obstacle.
The following are a few ideas for raising funds to bring the Goretti Group to your area:
- Parents are very interested in helping their children and others to embrace the virtue of chastity. Some coordinators send an appeal letter to parents who might like to sponsor a teen in need.
- Teenagers themselves are often excited about participating in this kind of event. A car wash, bake sale, benefit dance and other fundraising events allow them to have fun while they help to raise funds.
- Schools and parishes often have funds set aside for retreats and speaking engagements. Coordinators can submit a request to their pastor or ask that a parent do so in their stead.
- To reduce the cost of speaking engagements, pastors sometimes invite Goretti Group representatives to present the mission of the organization and appeal for prayers and financial support following Sunday services. In these cases, the Goretti Group is able to deliver a talk for free if scheduled during the same weekend as the appeal. The Goretti Group is then also able to reduce the fee of a talk or retreat on an alternate day.
- Service organizations such as the Rotary or Lions club often have funds that they contribute to worthwhile community events and programming. The Knights of Columbus councils are also well known and willing donors. Contact the local leader, and send them a letter.
- Charging an admission fee can offset the costs associated with these retreats and seminars.
- Local hotels will often provide a free or discounted room in exchange for advertising in your promotional materials.
- Coordinators can invite parents to a teen chastity talk and have them sit toward the back of the room. Once the parent observes the impact of the seminar, they are often more than happy to offer a free will donation.
- Coordinators can partner with another local school, parish or organization to share the budget and the planning efforts.
- Write to local Right to Life organizations and request help with raising funds.
